Brazilian Music Lecture and Concert

Featuring music by Brazilian composer Guinga

Saturday, November 15th, 1:30-3 pm at the University of Southern California

On Saturday the 15th I will be giving my first recital in partial fulfillment of my DMA requirements at USC. It will be a combined lecture and concert. The lecture will look beyond bossa nova to choro and other Brazilian genres lesser known in the U.S. The concert will be a performance of the music of Guinga.

Joining me will be Rumi Inoue on flute and Jose Gurria on percussion

Location: Arnold Schoenberg Institute (ASI) building on the USC campus (directions)

Capital in L.A.

I've moved from Tokyo to L.A. and am in my first semester of the Doctor of Musical Arts course in guitar performance at USC. There are many stunning teachers and students alike here, and I can't wait to share the new things I learn through new compositions, recordings and performances.

In other news I was in Brazil in July recording a new album with an amazing band, led by Flavia Gabizo on vocals. Keyboards and arrangements were done by the master Paulo Calasans, and Marco Bosco was on percussion and loop programming. This album is currently in post-production. Look for it soon!
